frequently asked questions

Do I need a kiln or any special equipment?

Nope! All Pott’d pottery kits use air-dry clay: no kiln or fancy tools needed. Just open the box and start creating. Our Paintables kits are ceramic and just need baking in the oven to cure the paint

Is this suitable for beginners?

No experience? No problem! Our lovely kits include everything you need to get started, plus step-by-step guides and plenty of inspiration to make painting fun and easy.

Are the ceramics and paints safe for kids and everyday use?

Yes, they are. Our ceramics and paints are tested to strict UK/EU safety standards, including EN71 for child safety and BS 6748 for food use. Just be sure not to paint the rim or the inside of the mug, as noted in our instructions. The ceramics are pre-fired and home-oven baking won’t affect their safety when used as directed. Have more questions? We’re happy to help.

How long does Air Dry Clay take to dry?

Air dry clay typically takes around 24 to 48 hours to dry completely, depending on the thickness of your creation and the room temperature / humidity. To help your clay dry evenly, place it on a clean, flat surface in a well-ventilated area and avoid direct sunlight or heat sources, which can cause cracking. Once dry, your piece will feel firm to the touch and be ready for painting or sealing.

Can I give this as a gift?

Absolutely. Every Pott’d kit is beautifully packaged and designed to make a thoughtful, creative gift for anyone who loves trying getting crafty. Alternatively, use the kit yourself to create a thoughtful handmade creation thats one of kind. Whether it’s for a birthday, special occasion, or just because, it’s the perfect way to avoid resorting to another boring gift card.

Can I return it?
